Campus Medical Care Assistance Fund

The Reserve Fund Investment Committee (RFIC) of UC SHIP has allocated funds to UC Davis, Hastings College of Law, UC Irvine, UC Los Angeles, UC Merced, UC Riverside, UC San Diego, UC San Francisco, UC Santa Barbara, and UC Santa Cruz. These funds will be distributed to students facing financial hardship, aiming to help cover their out-of-pocket medical expenses exceeding $500, up to the individual in-network out-of-pocket maximum.

Eligibility

Eligibility is open to all currently enrolled graduate and undergraduate students, along with their dependents, who are enrolled in UC SHIP. To qualify, students must have been enrolled for at least one term prior to the date of the medical service, which should occur within the 2023-2024 plan year. Additionally, students must not have any outstanding financial balance with their campus and must have applied for charity care from the service provider.

Each campus will receive a grant amount determined by their UC SHIP enrollment. These funds, provided by RFIC, are specifically allocated for the 2023-24 academic year. Once the funds have been utilized, no further grants will be assigned for the remainder of the year.
